How to get to here
by Plane
The two closest airports include:
Munich International Airport (MUC)
Memmingen Airport (FMM)
The Munich airport is the closest international airport and therefore very suitable for all guests from outside Europe.
Memmingen has a regional airport that can be an advantageous method of travel if you are coming from within Europe. There are many large European cities that fly into Memmingen. For those coming from a long way, it could be possible for you to have a nice European holiday piggy backed off of our wedding. Check the cities that fly to Memmingen here: Memmingen Airport
by Train
Germany has a dense rail network and traveling by train can be a great option to travel around. Memmingen has a train station with hourly connections to Munich (ca. 1h travel time) and many other cities and points of interest. There are also special group tickets with heavily discounted travel fares.

by Car
Memmingen is located at a Autobahn intersection which makes travel from all directions very convenient (1h 20min from the Munich Airport). The celebrations will take place in various locations around Memmingen. Lynn and Seb live in a village called Buxheim that’s only 5min by car from Memmingen and the big day celebrations will take place in Kronburg 15min outside from Memmingen.
Important Travel Information
Visas for Travelers
Visas are not required for most visitors to enter the European Union. Unlike previously stated, Americans are NOT required to apply for an ETIAS visa. The European Union has postponed the ETIAS requirement from the year 2024 to the year 2025. Phew!
Passports
For people outside of the European Union, it’s important to ensure that your passport is up to date before traveling. Please read important information found here.
Things to Do
Munich
Munich, Bavaria’s capital, is home to centuries-old buildings, historical sites and numerous museums. There are great (free) walking city tours and the city offers a multitude of shopping options. During the summer, Munich’s parks and beergardens are a popular spot for visitors and locals alike.
Don’t miss stopping by the BMW Museum, seeing the new Rathaus (townhall) at Marienplatz, get some treats at the nearby Viktualienmarkt, and have a Maß Bier (1 liter) at Hofbräuhaus.
Castles
There are two castles in Munich which make them very accessible: Munich Residenz and Nymphenburg Palace.
Around Munich especially the castles from King Ludwig II are well known also outside of Bavaria and can be easily reached by train. Herrenchiemsee New Palace is located on an island on Lake Chiemsee and Neuschwanstein Castle is maybe the most famous castle of all! Ensure to visit at least one of them and book your (English) tour way in advance as especially during the summer vacation months the castles are very busy. Neuschwanstein Castle can only be visited on a guided tour.
Alps
Lynn and Sebastian reside in the Allgäu: the southern region of Germany. The Allgäu is well known for its beautiful landscapes with rolling hills and the Alps as its focal points. The area allows for many activities including hiking, cycling, mountain biking, sight seeing, wellness/spa resorts, and much more.
